A recent global study found that leaders worldwide or failing in five critical skills. Top among those skills is the ability to coach individual team members.

Many managers are uncomfortable coaching. They prefer to delegate or in some cases just avoid talking to employees. Underneath this resistance to coaching, is the fear of creating a bad outcome to a sensitive conversation.

For managers, learning to coach can be difficult but the payoff is rewarding. Being a coach is all about encouraging, correcting and challenging your team to be their best. Coaching versus delegating works best with highly motivated workers, young workers and a team of competent professionals already performing at a reasonably high level. Once you define what a win is, your team may need your guidance and support. But, in most cases ,they shouldn't need direction. In fact, the more they make the project or goal their own and can add their own contribution, the more motivated they will be.

Your team may need your support and encouragement or to be able to ask you questions to clarify goals. After that, you don't want to steal their enthusiasm by micro-managing. Let them take ownership of a goal and add their particular skills and contribution. They will be internally motivated and will go the extra mile.

Management Training Videos teach managers how to handle sensitive conversations and how to coach their teams toward success. The video trainings show realistic scenarios and role plays covering a variety of topics - from getting good work repeated, correcting poor work in a positive way, dealing with employees poor personal habits, and tools for turning a dead-end performance around. Managers can use these video trainings as a guide to using good judgment on how to give feedback and caring about each member of the team.
