Maintaining the growth of a small business can pose many challenges for various reasons that pertain to the current size of your business. One of the main reasons for this is that companies don't have enough marketing and advertising resources. There are benefits, though, to being a small company. One strength is more flexibility and agility which will enable you to move faster. You have the opportunity of running a small test campaign to determine whether or not the ROI is worth it and only scale it up if it proves to be profitable. Another strength is making faster decisions since there are fewer people to interfere and slow things down. The key to success is to capitalize on your strong points, which you will have to identify, of course.

There are so many businesses chasing the same market audiences. It's hard to stand out when you blend in too much. Have you ever watched television late at night and seen an infomercial that features one of those people who just seems ludicrously crazy? Perhaps they are not on as much as they were, but some still exist. Those people act crazy on purpose because they understand that it helps grab attention. You don't have to be crazy too; what you need to do is find your own way of setting yourself apart. The options for doing this are plentiful but it's best to tie it to a real benefit to your customers. There are millions of US based businesses that not only don't have websites, they don't have any web presences at all. If this sounds like you, perhaps you think that websites aren't actually necessary or perhaps you simply have decided that you don't want one. If you still have room in your schedule for more business, then get a website and begin marketing locally. There are plenty of great reasons to put up a site for your business. You might not yet know that you can create your own basic site that can serve as your business card. If you have traditional business cards, you can list your URL on them. At the very least, it is possible to optimize for local searches so that people in your close vicinity can find you. Then, people can read presell marketing about your products or services and make the call.

You can find lots of ideas for marketing your business that you are unlikely to actually use. A comprehensive search using Google will yield tons of ideas many of which are effective. Then you can move to paid-for content from reliable and trusted sources.

Increasing local offline advertising is a great strategy for a company whose main focus isn't online. But have a more scientific approach and employ ad tracking. There are many ways for you to do it and it's really not all that hard. For example, you can place different special offers in different local publications. Almost every town and city delivers weekly shopping papers to its residents for free. The secret is to make sure there's a distinct offer and ad in each paper, which can also be accompanied by a coupon if you so desire. This will show you which approach is most effective at getting you calls and leads. If you have a website, test with sending people to your site so they can find out more about your specials deals.

If you want to expand your business, regardless of the tough economy, then you need to decide to do it. Where there's a will there's a way and it applies to finding business solutions as well. Reading the news each day is filled with negative thought patterns evident in the business community. Your creativity and confidence will nose-dive, which will lead to you ending up in the same situation as the rest of them and that's something you really don't want.
