It is safe to assume that Yelp is one of, if not the most, popular review-based websites found on the Internet. Currently, there are thousands upon thousands of reviews from consumers. Yelp has reviews on various businesses that range from restaurants to doctors to hair salons. Whatever you are looking for, you will be able to find reviews for it on Yelp. People use Yelp everyday for feedback on certain services that were previously used by other consumers.

Apple recently announced that they are unveiling their own Maps app and replacing it with the currently Google Maps App found on the iPhone. The new and improved app will let users check-in to businesses on Yelp. This means that whenever a consumer is at a specific business location, they can log into their Yelp account and "check-in". This allows others to know that they are at a certain business.

People often sync their Yelp accounts with other social media websites, such as Twitter or Facebook. This will create a larger online presence for small businesses, which is a great marketing opportunity. When consumers sync their social media accounts and are discussing a certain business, search engines tend to pick this up.

If you are a small business owner, you may want to look at your current Yelp reviews. Oftentimes, people go to review websites to release their frustrations about a certain business. It is probable that there is at least one negative review written about your business on the Internet. If this happens to be the case, you want to address it in a respectful manner. Negative reviews about your business could affect the views of potential customers and cause you to lose business.

The new Apple Maps App could be a fantastic marketing opportunity for small business owners. Once a negative review has been written about your business, it is quite difficult to get it off the Internet. Always address any negative review you find. Internet and technology are always growing and so does the potential of marketing to a larger audience. Keep a watchful eye on your business and what is being written about you online!
