Yesterday, I got around to replaying one of the video games I simply adore entitled, "The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time." While I played, I had to stop and realize just how broad the world was. With smaller villages and cities to roam around in, each of them is connected by one giant tract of land called Hyrule Field. While I'm a veteran at this particular game, I can't imagine a newbie not getting lost. It's because of this that I could imagine certain characters having to learn how to skip trace for free.

You're probably wondering why any of the characters in Ocarina of Time would learn how to skip trace for free. After all, this game takes place in a fantasy world, so why utilize man-made methods? The truth of the matter is that magic cannot solve every problem imaginable and the more authentic processes are often preferred. Strong debt agencies along the lines of R-R-S would support this idea as a way to find debtors whom have seemingly fallen off of the face of the planet but that's not the only purpose for these tools.

Link is the main hero of the game and while he's heroic through and through, he's never without his fairy companion called Navi. The main role of Navi is to help her master in Link as he encounters new situations and foes. However, with Link's inability to keep constant tabs on his companion, what if they were reluctantly separated during a great fight? Link can't constantly keep Navi in his sights and this might be a time when skip trace tools could be utilized.

Those who don't consider themselves part of the Zelda fandom will not know that the idea of exploration is a key point in each game. Link finds himself traveling perpetually to the point where settling in one spot is an impossibility. Finding a certain person, royalty or otherwise, is an idea that the Zelda series has been guilty of. One great example is in the latest Zelda title, "Skyward Sword," which features Link arriving at the places Princess Zelda once was in what could best be described as a game of cat and mouse. Skip tracing tools, at least in this sense, would be a terrific fit.

Would skip trace tools become the ticket in helping Link find who he's looking for? It's quite possible, sure, but how easy would it be in this fantasy world? Unless I have missed an obscure point in the games, I don't think credit card information has come to fruition at that point and in such a wide world, not everyone is going to know a specific man, woman, or creature. It's an idea to consider, however, and even in a fantasy world, these tools can be used.
