I have a 2 drawer filing cabinet. I have certainly owned it for about 15 years and, quite honestly, I have certainly never ever thought a great deal regarding it. A national firm had an office right beside mine, and they moved to a brand-new, larger room and purchased new fancy maple desks, chairs and filing cabinets, and offered all the old stuff. I paid the grand amount of five bucks (no provided tax,) and proudly place my "brand-new" 2 drawer filing cabinet in the back of my station wagon and off we went.
It changed a whole lot of boxes, bags and ideally located flat surfaces for assorted papers, documents, advertisements and such. which for some reason understood only to God, I thought I should keep. Even if they were kept in boxes, bags, and on beneficial flat surfaces (like on dressers, sink boards, additional boxes, and anywhere.) I also painted it, a sort of an nondescript white. It had been that institutional green. I am uncertain it looked any better, yet an interior decorator I'm not. But an economic genius, I am. Fifteen years for $ 5.
So, now you understand one of the large tips of my life. I told all my friends that I had a solid, metal, 2 drawer filing cabinet and lied about the cost I paid for it. They, being no smarter than I am (I stated they were my friends,) believed whatever sensational volume I claimed to have paid. Actually, an excellent, metal 2 drawer filing cabinet acquired at an office furnishings store is expensive. I must have truly bragged about just how little I paid instead of exactly how much I hadn't. Just one more stupid error, in a prolonged and popular listing of such.
If I were running for some office or other I would call it a misstatement and blame it on my staff. However really, I simply blew it. And though they state confession is good for the soul, I don't feel any purer because I admitted the cost. But now, lets talk about the good things my 2 drawer filing cabinet has certainly done.
First, it has provided my garage a little class. I don't understand anyone who has a nondescript white 2 drawer filing cabinet in their garage, which offers the impression that I need to have some fairly vital stuff that I am keeping. If any of my friends do have that volume of retained paper, they can be watched on the Nine O'Clock News when the firemen can't get into their house to put out the predictable fire since they are hoarders. Second of all, believe it or not, I really do keep some storable stuff in the cabinet and are able to literally locate it when I need it, when I keep in mind that I put it there.
Thirdly, and foremost, I have gotten a brand-new assurance that old expressions have some truth, ie: exactly what goes around comes around. The 2 drawer file cabinet has enough added bedroom for a box or two, and a bag, and most of all an ideally located flat surface for heaps of paper.
